My First Skirt: The Moment I Fell in Love with Skirt Sports!

I started officially training for my first marathon in 2004 and the options for running apparel led me to a routine I knew all too well and didn't enjoy.  The dance went like this...run, run, run, pull down, pull down...run, run, run, pull down, pull down.  Yeah, it wasn't cute how my shorts would ride up the inner thighs and get on my nerves during my training runs.  After no success with running shorts, I moved to biker shorts but felt awkward running in shorts made for bikers. I even tried buying shorts two sizes two big to prevent that little dance but the extra bulk made me look really funny.  I felt like I was one of those Macy's Day Parade balloons with the puffy oversized shorts.  

Then, I'm sure it was one of those moments where music started playing and a spotlight shone down on the cutest running skirt ever! I was walking around an expo and low and behold the coolest thing I had ever seen was looking right at me!   It was the cutest, sleekest running skirt I had ever seen!  There were two color choices: black and pink. I really wanted both but thought I would buy one in case it didn't work out as I had hoped.  

From that moment on, my first skirt became the only thing I would run in!  It never rode up so no more "dance" along the course of run, run, run, pull down, pull down and the embarrassment of having to constantly adjust!  There was no chafing and to top it off, I felt feminine, strong, and comfortable!  My first skirt (Skirt Sports Triks) took me to the Army 10 Miler, Outer Banks Inaugural Half Marathon, Cleveland Half Marathon, Virginia Beach Half Marathon and so many training runs in between! 

 
 I may not have won an Ironman race like the Skirts Sports founder, Nicole DeBoom, but I certainly won in my own way.  Skirt Sports changed my outlook on who I could be while running - running more confident than ever before!  So, the moral of this story is once you go Skirt you never go back.  I now wear Skirt Sports almost daily!

And the 2016 Seattle Marathon Ambassadors are...10 Inspiring Runners and ME!!! These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things: Dressing for Winter Workouts

Living in the Pacific Northwest, I can easily talk myself out of a good workout during the rainy winter months.  But, sometimes the right workout outfit can help spark the motivation to run or even dress them up for an evening out.  As a Skirt Sports Ambassador, I've had the chance to try many of the styles and have fallen in love with them.  I thought it might be helpful to share my Top 5 winter workout items from the Skirt Sports collections. #5 - Wrapsody This is my go to skirt/legging combo and has a nice little gathering at the bottom of the legging, which makes it work for short girls.  The skirt is a bit longer too, so I like to wear it for running and for dressing up. #4 - Skirt Sports Beanies!  I absolutely adore the beanies and they have two new designs I can't wait to wear!  Excuse the "not impressed" face, this was taken when Mississippi Blues was canceled for ice and I ended up being stuck all alone in Jackson, MS. #3 - Wo...

Starting Over!

The Start Line is Here... I know I'm not the only runner with an injury sob story and I'm recovering the best I can from some sciatic issues and plantar fasciitis.  But, spring racing season is upon us and time to test out my legs who have been on such a long break.  In early March, I completed the Hot Chocolate 5K, which was just a warm up run for future weeks and hot chocolate is a ton of fun, so it was a great way to jump back into the game. March Races Hot Chocolate 5K  Then, right after St. Patrick's Day, I traveled to a race in Vancouver, WA...the Couve Clover Run and although I was slow, my first two miles were at pre-injury pace.  I hit mile 1 and heard the voice on my Nike app say "10 minutes 26 seconds"...at that point I reminded myself to slow down and take it easy!  The next several miles got slower and slower until I had to walk.  But, I shocked myself and placed in the 7 mile race!  I got 3rd place in my division and an awe...
